In-Person EQ Café - Conflict

EQ Cafe - Conflict

Facilitator: Liz AdamshickN.America Network Leader

The word conflict comes from the Latin verb confligere, composed of cum (with) and fligere (to strike or clash). It suggests that conflict happens when different forces collide — even within ourselves! In today’s polarized world, these clashes often follow repeating emotional patterns that escalate quickly. Recognizing those patterns is the first step toward breaking the cycle. With emotional intelligence, we can pause, reflect, and choose a different response — one that fosters empathy, connection, and real resolution.

Join this interactive “EQ Café” to explore how emotional intelligence helps us recognize the patterns that fuel conflict — and practice tools to shift the cycle and create space for understanding.

Emotional intelligence (aka “EQ”) means being smarter with feelings -- and we can grow EQ by practicing together. EQ Cafés are insightful, engaging sessions for people curious about emotional intelligence to connect and learn together.

In this Café we will discover:
• What is conflict, and why does it feel so charged?
• How does the Reaction Cycle explain the way we get stuck in conflict — and how can we break free?
• How can emotional intelligence skills, especially empathy and Recognize Patterns, help us handle conflict more effectively?

The Cafés are open to anyone.
Please register and explore together!
