In a time of rising polarization and uncertainty, a natural reaction is to pull inward — to protect ourselves by disconnecting from others. But community is built through connection, not isolation. When we reconnect with the people around us, using emotional intelligence to listen, support, and co-create, we build the kind of resilience that no one can build alone.
This Cafe is hosted by N.America Network Leader: Ayaka Mawarida
This EQ Café invites you to explore how emotions connect us to each other. Drawing on new research from Six Seconds on the "Resource Caravan" — a cluster of EQ skills that travel together and strengthen resilience — we'll discover which emotional intelligence capacities fuel genuine community, and practice the simplest and most powerful form of connection there is: listening.
Emotional intelligence (EQ) means being smarter with feelings. It's learnable, practical, and grows through shared practice. EQ Cafés are reflective, engaging conversations for people who are curious about emotions and want to build insight and connection together.
In this Café, we will explore:
-
What does it take to stay connected when uncertainty makes us want to pull apart?
-
How do specific EQ skills form a "Resource Caravan" that fuels community?
-
What happens when we truly listen to each other — and how does that strengthen connection?
This Café is an invitation to reconnect with the people around you and discover the emotional resources that make community possible.
